“Montenegro 🇲🇪 ~Driving Around Mojkovac”
We enjoyed this area so much, we stayed another night, so we could drive around the area. Something came over both of us; be it the mountain air, the quiet, or the gorgeous rural beauty at our every turn, but we just felt more relaxed than normal, and just went with it.
We drove in on what they call “Panoramic Roads, identified with road numbers; 1D. Today, we found a second one, but discovered it might be the one we will drive out on it, (1) to our destination we have in mind, tomorrow. These roadways definitely live up to their names!

After our naps, with the rain stopping, we got back in the car to drive; just drive, with no destination in mind. We found some beautiful churches and passed many farms, which no doubt have been in the families for multiple generations. We drove up and over mountains, and down into valleys. We saw villages and more towns.
Life is very simple here, and we both felt a bit caught up in it, as well.

We woke up to fog this morning

As we drove up the mountain, we could look down at the hotel/restaurant we are staying at

Hay is cut and put up, and lots of wood piles are stacked high; signs of the cold hard winter months ahead, following their gorgeous summer. The cows are fat and hardy, and chickens are busy doing what chickens do. It’s a wonderful life, here for sure.

Sometimes we just need to step back from it all and count our many blessings, and not rush through a day, but truly feel our surroundings, observe the people near us and truly live in the moment. Today was that day for us. We feel very lucky to be summering in Europe; something we would never have dreamed we could make happen, yet, here we are.

We followed a road for quite awhile to this little church in the village of Karaula.
As we wandered around the cemetery reading dates and looking at the photos shown of the family members buried there, it was a feeling of lives lived, not so much of death. Hard lives, perhaps, but lives, with generations of loved ones, who are now, all together for eternity.

An old crypt

I think I see 1863

It would appear the stele-type grave markets could go back way before the 17th century we see on many erected stones with writing. Perhaps dates use to show, but time has warm away any markings that once were.
We take nothing for granted, and we are grateful. Life can be very fleeting, so every minute counts. Hold your loved ones as close as you can, for as long as you can.

Another church, with a foreign name to us. It was newer and very tidy
