“Indonesia 🇮🇩 ~A Full Day of Ubud Sites in Bali”
This morning, from the town of Ubud, we headed out for a full day of sightseeing. Ubud is so lovely and serene, one doesn’t even have to stop and get out of the vehicle, since the drive alone is worth the day.
At every turn, there are beautiful green rice patties, ancient Temples, age-old homes, and endless sunshine! We got out of the van many times to take in what Bali has to offer. It is very hot once again, as we are back near the equator, but it is the tropics, which in turn is WHY it is so beautiful!
Locals go about their daily life, and the sense of zen here is apparent. It is a very nice place to be, the locals are so nice, it’s affordable and worth a trip!
One of our stops included a trip to the Geopark Global UNESCO Site, to view an active volcano that is currently dormant; only spewing smoke every now and again. The drive up to the mountainous area is enjoyable, and once up around the top, perfect views of the Lake and Volcano are easily visible on a clear day.
Just doing some swinging with great scenery!
Mount Batur today
Mount Batur, as we know it today, was formed by an eruption in 1917.
The volcano is a still active, with a secondary volcanic cone sporting numerous subsidiary vents around its flanks. Measured from the floor of the crater, it rises within the circling embrace of the caldera to a height of 5,633 feet above sea level).
The eruptions of Mount Batur have been registered since 1804 and since that time, 22 volcanic eruptions have occurred. Since 1917, Mount Batur erupted three more times; 1926, 1974, 1994. On each occasion, shifting a little more to the west, creating new sub craters that are referred to as Batur I, II and III, respectively.

Smoke and Mirrors
There is a restaurant one can enjoy a meal, and take in the surroundings.
