“USA 🇺🇸 ~Nevada at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas”

We always enjoy moving to a new location!

We have a nice spot, in this quieter area of Las Vegas. Sam’s Town has been around a long time, too, and I prefer this historic area, yet only seven miles from the famous strip, if we choose to venture there for entertainment.
We will enjoy Christmas and ring in the News Year, here, without a lot of fan fare. It’s just us.
We are always grateful to have each other.

Now that we got Rusty our car back, from the transmission shop, and have wheels again, we will enjoy dusting off our cameras and charging their batteries up, as we have a few places we want to explore. We also have several friends to visit here, in addition to some business to take care of.

As far as Prime Rib Dinners go ⬇️

Over the 30 years I’ve visited Vegas and eating Prime Rib, we had the best one last night in Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.
That being said; who remembers the $9.99 Prime Rib dinners you could buy here, back in the day that were so good? I do remember. But, THOSE prices are gone. 😝

Tonight was special to eat out. Two months ago we headed out to celebrate Daryl’s birthday and the car broke down. So this was a belated bday for him.

Did you know the big guy was a butcher for 37 years? I tried to get him to give me his a “angry look,” but it’s just not his nature.

We enjoyed a walk around “Mystic Falls Park;” the inside area after dinner, to take in the Christmas decorations.

This was Las Vegas’ first “locals” casino when it debuted on the Boulder Strip in 1979. It features a 25,000-square-foot indoor park,
bowling center, movie theater, and one of the largest casino floors in Las Vegas.

The Hotel and Casino at Sam’s Town are very nice, with other restaurants and lotsa shops, but we didn’t stay around to gamble. That will be another night out, if we feel lucky. Daryl doesn’t care for gambling, but I like to on occasion.

We didn’t move to a warmer location by any means, but we still have the sunshine that I love so much! Here at Sam’s Town at Las Vegas KOA, we have a heated pool and hot tub.

We will remain here till our VW is finished, so we can easily drive back south to pick it up. January? Maybe?

Meanwhile, Still Back in Arizona ⬇️

We did check in on our bug, before leaving Arizona, and I’ll tell you, restoration jobs are messy, so our cute bug looks pretty rough. (she needs a scrubbing bath) The engine is out and getting the work done. Seats and door panels are redone and stored away for now. All new window rubber seals  are done, so no wind sounds will be in our ears! New ragtop is also being redone.
We bought an a/c unit (not original to the ‘72 VW) but we like our a/c, and when on dusty roads, adventuring, we will not have the top down. It installed, perfectly, under the dash. New carpets are also stored and ready. They will go in, last.
One simply needs to imagine the finished project, only, at a time like this. I know it will be beautiful when it all comes together.

In Other News ⬇️

After full-timing, doing the RV life for over a year, I finally baked something that turned out. It browned and had even baking. PLUS, I was able to use my 9×9 Pyrex dish in it. (raspberry cobbler) I also baked peanut butter cookies, perfectly!

I’ve not been a fan of my built-in convection oven (in The Whale) for baking, though cooking in it is fine, and the microwave is great!  ….but it failed on baking, too many times, so I went on a mission to come up with a solution!
I chose the Emeril Lagasse 26Qt capacity oven that sits on my countertop. I just loved it! UNFORTUNATELY, it quit working! How disappointing. It’s going back for a full refund.
I tried.

Goodbye Kingman, Arizona! ⬇️

We left a few days after it snowed, here! Didn’t expect that!

It’s Always a joy and a delight when we can find an RV wash big enough for The Whale! On our way out of town, she got a good scrubbing at
Airway Avenue Car Wash

Here we come Sams Town, Nevada or bust!

I took us almost two hours to drive for us, plus time to stop and refuel. Since we gained an hour with time zone change, it felt like it took us minutes to make this trip.
