“Serbia 🇷🇸 ~Ulica Gornja Bistrica”

We arrived in Serbia earlier than anticipated, yesterday; not that five hours on the road wasn’t a full afternoon, but… This ended up being a very good thing, since western Serbia is very remote and not many tourists must come here, as evidenced by the lack of hotels. Not closed hotels, but no hotels in small towns.

We got our SIM card at a market, pretty quickly over the border, an ATM, next and last, a hotel.  We can pay our hotel (25) in Euro, but do not know how widely Euro is accepted here, yet. The ATM gave local currency in Dinar. $20 is equal to 2,000.00 (roughly) it’s a decimal thing. WiFi is not available so far, and 3G is what we get so far.       S L O W

We ended up driving and searching for over an hour to find a place to stay. Thank goodness for the picture of the bed on their sign, because we would not have guessed they had lodging. We thought it was only a restaurant.

We felt very lucky to have found this place, before dark, and we are quite comfortable, while we figure out where we want to go in Serbia! We stayed in this huge house, on a family farm, but easy access from the road. We hear chickens clucking, roosters crowing. and the babbling brook running. The restaurant has good food, too!

We recommend!
locals are very nice, friendly and helpful, which makes it all okay. We feel welcome! Our host is quite excited we are from California in America 🇺🇸. She is very sweet and we have been enjoying her company. Im trying to get a photo of her with me, but she is very shy about it so far.
Our room is the bigger room, with twin beds. Their one bed room was too small to have suitcases in. We don’t like being apart, but sometimes it’s necessary.
Veal Soup
A cheese plate. The left is feta-lime a d the right is called Kajmsk; a local favorite. It’s like a butter, but soured in a good way. Very good with bread
We drove until we found a hotel, as we were hungry and tired. We are in the mountains again, which is not a surprise, and we have no plans, till after at least one good night sleep; maybe two!
