“Montenegro 🇲🇪 ~Scenic Drive From the Eastern Border of Kosovo 🇽🇰 ”

Completely delighted to achieved our goal of continuous foreign travels, once again, we did our usual thing in a new country; found a SIM card provider, and get local currency, at the first border town we come to. We had arrived in Rozaje.

The local currency was easy, as Montenegro is still Euro, just as Kosovo was. Our SIM card purchased did not go so smooth. For 15 euros each, we got our cards, but the woman at the kiosk did not know a thing about activating them, and she spoke zero English. Thankfully, two young gals walked by and one spoke some English. She directed us to the provider office. But, when we arrived it was closed. Understand, we are driving blind in a new country without our “maps” on the phone, as signage is very limited. It would be easy to drive hours, on the wrong road. We have tried to access paper maps, while on our road trip, but no such items exist in southern and Central Europe, so far. (tourist help centers are closed).

Again, due to good fortune and the kindness of the locals, Daryl went to a mobile phone store, and a nice young man got us activated. He did not accept any pay for his assistance…BUT, he did notice my iPhone protective screen was trashed, so for 10 Euro, he said he could replace it. Of course we said, yes please!

We now had maps again, with 4G, so we were in business! We got a bit of rain, and some winds, as we got underway, but that usually does not deter us, unless walking in it with our cameras. We drove along, very happily, taking in the European scenic wonders. We were super tired from such a big day, but the beauty around us was energizing!

We always stop for Raspberries!
“Malina” is Bulgarian for raspberry

Finally, we did stop at a roadside hotel, with the typical Alpine flare, got a room, some bean soup, then snuggled in for the night!

This morning, we awoke to fog and very wet surroundings; looking like it rained pretty well all night. Today, the plan was to continue the route to our first scheduled destination of Ostrog Monastery; built into a rock cliff. As our morning disappeared, we realized that neither of us wanted to leave this area quite yet. It’s so beautiful, plus I’ve had my nose in a good book, too! So, we are spending another night, and continuing on our way, tomorrow. The Monastery is still a couple hours drive away, to where we are now. More scenic beauty awaits!
