“Macedonia and Driving the Tractor Highway”

The wealth of this region is measured in tractors, tobacco, tomatoes, corn and orchards.
Road work is our nuisance. Chinese engineers craft deficits into roadways and debt incurred. We get to our destination, but like all lakeshore towns, the traffic is impossible. We can’t get to any hotel rooms we looked up on the internet and the ones we found were full.
Before leaving, we could see the the Fortress on the hill. Heading to the crowning achievement, we enter the narrow gate and the skinny cobbled streets. At the end of our chosen path was a great view of a restructured Monastery and view of the lake.

Touring the area and photographing the Monastery grounds, we gaze up past the archeological area to the Fortress above

A hard walk up a cobbled path leads to the gates and the Nobel grounds. The walls can be accessed by stone steps with the view on high.

We had our cold coffee near a cafe near the Fort and enquired about a room at several places, but it was a Friday and no vacancies. We drove towards our next destination and found a room along the way.
