“We’ve Been Asked, So We Shall Answer”

With everything going on in the world right now, why don’t you just go “home?”

Firstly: our motto: “It’s better to travel well, than to arrive” ~Buddha

But, here is the more in-depth answer; and keep in mind, COVID19 has affected every person in the world in one way or another. Each person is entitled to feel as they feel, in regards to how this plague has affected them, personally.

*We leased our home out and have very good tenants

~Where would we live?

*We don’t crave the idea of quarantining for two weeks, upon arrival in our own country. Remember, we have been in Europe  since February. Imagine, if you will, spending the equivalent of time and expense in a hotel where you don’t get to leave, (at all) and just order delivery meals for two weeks… like a very expensive ”staycation” you don’t want

~Remember, we have both already had COVID19, back in January, in Egypt 🇪🇬…. for the record, if you are of normal healthy or better, it is very true, it’s a nasty flu, to be survived, without medical intervention. 🦠

*We’ve been very fortunate to be isolating in on an Island in Greece 🇬🇷, where there had been zero COVID19 cases, and while still on struck government movement orders (one needs a permit to be out~or steep fines) for over a month now; that movement order is being lifted tomorrow, and small businesses will reopen (May 4th). We won’t have to get a permit to be outside (like 6 reasons only) to go to the bank, or grocery store, and we can get haircuts! Our desire is to remain in Greece and Island hop a bit, until borders might open again, around the globe.

~Why would we want to leave where we are at?

*Living where we are now, since sheltering in place, we have never dealt with empty shelves at the grocery store, we have always had TP, and we have never experienced  crazy panic or fear, here. Everybody just goes on with life and it’s calm, quiet and peaceful. We do as well.

~Why we want any other life right now?

*We sold everything non-essential for the purpose of being gone; traveling for five-plus years.

~What would we drive back “home”?

*We have been traveling full-time for so long, now, we feel more “at home,” out in the world, than we do back in the states. This might be hard to understand, but our conviction to leave the only life we had ever known, to seek adventure and a new experiences; to really live everyday in mystery and unknowns, runs very deep in our being(s).. in our very cores.

~Why would we want to give all that up?

*The cost of traveling back to our home is expensive and would exceed our budget

~A flight home (one-way) is close to $800 pp right now

*We can live cheaper “traveling” in most corners of the world; Schlegen zone Europe, being the exception. Living back “home” is restricting, on a fixed income.

~Why would we choose to all of a sudden live beyond our means?”

*Having physical limitations we deal with everyday of our lives (yep, invisible challenges) this is our shot at doing this type of travel. We made that decision many years ago, at this point, and it was the best choice for us, and the result has been us, living each day with joy and newness, we would not be experiencing, otherwise. It’s now or never for us, and we would feel defeated in a lot of ways, if we are forced to go back to the states, against our will. We are NOT getting any younger, here!

~We have always had a short window here to do our thing. It means the world to us!

*We’ve had a plan to return home for a visit, to enjoy family and friends. all along, but it’s much better to have the freedom to make it in our timing, and our choice; “when.”

If we lose the “battle,” and become victims of the actual COVID19 pandemic in the traveling sense, it won’t be because we didn’t try; it will be because we lost our freedom, and will being forced to go back to a home we no longer, really, have

Sincerely,

Daryl n Pen ~aka Bunny
