“Some Thoughts on The Future of Travel”
Hello fellow travelers. Are you planning or rescheduling your canceled vacations to Europe, or any other country travels, for that matter?

It would appear that Europe, at least, is determined to have a tourists season, but what this means, may surprise you. So, grab that hot deal on airfare and go for it! BUT, I would advise you communicate with the hotels you are planning to stay in, and get very clear on what you can expect, in regards to the “new normal.”

Since we’ve been sheltering in Europe, with closed borders, we are learning, first hand, what business owners; such as cruise companies, and hoteliers are being instructed to do, (by their government) along the lines of reopening. To avoid any surprises, please ask the following questions of your lodging choice; regardless of what their website or booking sites reveal. I guarantee you, changing websites to meet the “new” standard of operation, may not be a priority at this time, because we all “dream” about things going back to normal!
*Will there still be food service availability in hotel restaurants?
*What will be the food option availability near your chosen hotel be? Delivery options?
*Will there still be a coffee pot or hot pot, available in rooms, with complimentary coffee/tea? Will there still be a refrigerator?
Complimentary water? What about shampoos/and other complimentary toiletries?
*Will there be cleaning service: daily, weekly, ever? Throughout your stay, will you get fresh towel replacements? Clean sheets? Pool towels provided? Will the pool/hot tub be open?
Will the lift in the hotel be operational? Or will stairs be the only viable option?
*Will masks and gloves be required on-site? If so, provided?

Think “germ” control and ask your own questions.
We are traveling full-time, and have no plans to return “home.” We have not been back to the states since 2017. We hope to move on from Europe in June, but regardless of where we go, the new normal in world travel has changed; at least for now. We will ask a lot more questions of our hotels we pick, or the cruise we take, and further explore what transportation in the area will be available, before we arrive, and find out if grocery markets are operational.

All over the world, an average of 40 percent of the business have closed. Which businesses have closed, and which ones have sustained the closures, and will re-open?
Good luck and keep traveling, any way you can!

These are all excellent questions. As always you are paving the way for the rest of us, kind of the modern equivalent of Lewis and Clark – not necessarily finding “new” lands but figuring out how to get to them is a “new world” of its own! May God continue to bless and keep you both safe. <3
Thanks Laurie.. it is a changed world for sure.. perhaps part of the plan. Funny you would mention Lewis and Clark… Sacagawea was a Lemhi Shoshone woman who helped the explorers… I am actually related to her… way back. I have a lot of history that goes back to the pioneer days.. blazing the Oregon Trail. I have a great great uncles, who’s sister was stolen from the wagon train, headed west…. never to seen again.
