“USA 🇺🇸 Texas ~Our Final and Fun Stop in Conroe/Montgomery”
We have had a very nice stay, at our last stop in Texas. We have some very special friends, here, who took time out of their own busy lives to spend time with us, and we feel absolutely blessed, because of it.
It’s been eight years since I moved from The Woodlands, and the area has grown, even in that time. Conroe is also not super close to The Woodlands, but RV Parks this close to Houston are limited. I noticed the increased in traffic from what I remember, and distance was a bit of a challenge, especially with it getting so dark, way too early this time of the year; and just one day before we set the clocks back.
⬆️ Our first visit was with our friend, Louis. I met Louis when he was working as a massage therapist and I was lucky enough to get paired with him through that business, in The Woodlands. Not only is he a great masseuse, he is also a great person!
I finally got to introduce him to Daryl. Now we are all friends. We went out for Mexican food and Daryl and I both got massages.
Thanks Louis for coming over to The Whale and the great massages! It was so wonderful to see you, again!
In between visiting with friends, Daryl had to get Jonah the Bug to the tire shop, since, after arriving in Conroe, we noticed a little loss of air in one of her tires. Unfortunately, she picked up a nail, and since it was on the outside part, it could not be repaired. Long story short(er), Jonah had to get all “new shoes,” because we just got to that point of no return, earlier than expected. The extra wear on all tires were mostly from the time when her under carriage issues, she used to have, caused her alignment to be off. AND because she is a tow vehicle for far more miles than she is ever driven, tires are a critical piece, and have to be really good.
The original plan of tire replacement was to get stock tires and new rims, but we did not have time to get the stock rims, delivered, before she needed new tires. Oh well, next time.
Something else that happened, and threw us for a loop; when we arrived in Conroe, both Jonah’s headlights were broken! We had gotten a broken headlight while up in Alaska, too. That was one broken headlight in six months. We got that headlight replaced whilst in Las Vegas; end of September. Now, in just over one month, we’ve got two more broken lamps. Daryl was only able to find one headlight in the area, and when he got it swapped out, it still didn’t work. We had one headlight working, though the outside glass was broken. This was a miracle. (we did not know both headlights were broken, till after dark) It made it really tough driving after dark, as the drive was 45 minutes from The Woodlands and on roads with no overhead lighting.
Yikes!
Daryl will be out looking for another headlight, and will work on the wiring issue to get the new headlight he just got, operational. Both headlights worked in Mexico, so it’s most likely a wire. The issue we are having; I think, is the loose tar chunks and gravel on the roads, going through so much construction all the time; even though they are small pieces, they get tossed up by The Whale, and a direct hit to the headlights and the windshield, are having dastardly results.
Always something…..

⬆️ Our next visit with friends was with Danney and Breanna. Oh my goodness we had such a fun evening, full of great conversation and lots of laughter! Not only that, but Breanna, who is a wonderful cook, treated us to a yummy dinner! We had gotten to see these two, when we met up with them at the Reagan Library in California, when they took a trip there. I got to introduce Daryl to them at that time, but that was only a few year, after I moved from Texas.

⬆️ Next fun visit was with Ricardo and Sherry. I met them through the camera club I joined, after moving to Texas. Sherry, like me, was also Oregon born and raised! I always had fun with these two, as we did many road trips to enjoy photo-taking opportunities: The Painted Churches, Spanish Missions; as well as The Alamo, the Blue Bonnet trail, and even as far as Louisiana to the beautiful Avery Island, and back, in one day-trip! Ricardo was always the one who graciously did all the driving and their car was always full of many friends.
We had so much fun!
We met up for dinner with Sherry and Ricardo, where we got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from them! It was so great seeing them again, after so many years. They follow our travels, so they felt like they knew Daryl already; though met him face-to-face for the first time, at dinner. All too soon, we had to get on the road, trying to beat full-on darkness with our one headlight. That was an inconvenience for sure, as we could have all talked the night away! Thank you both for the dinner and flowers!
After our visit, Ricardo posted the nicest mention about us.
Here is a copy of what he wrote…..
So exited ! We just had diner with the two gypsies in the wind travelers . We also got to meet “ The Pumpkin VW car “ (these two have travel all over the world and now they are traveling all across the USA). For many years many of you have heard Sherry and I sharing the testimony of our friend Pen.
Pen inspirational testimony has shown us that nothing is impossible for God . Pen died and went to heaven then after many hard challenges and struggles in her Life. Pen make the decision to get up and move to pursue her dreams . She found the love of her life. Together they began traveling all over the world .
Living life to the fullest.
We continue praying for this amazing couple . We are so thankful for showing us the world thru the lent of cameras and great writing .
Do not feel discouraged or down in Life . Make the best . For God has great plans to uplift you and overflow you in every area of your life .
Seek , pray . Read the Bible know who you are in Christ , He has giving us power , authority and dominion over the power of darkness . Many promises we can find in the Bible . We are living under new covenant.
Luke 11:9-
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

⬆️ On our last full day in Texas, our friend, Tonya came to The Whale to visit. You may remember her, most recently, from when we were in Oregon, visiting, because we got together then, too, as she had traveled from Texas to Oregon for her family, at the same time we were in Oregon for my family.
Tonya and I met after I moved to Texas. We lived in the same neighborhood. Tonya was also Oregon born and raised. We hit it off right away and would spend much time together, exercising and traveling!
…Thick as Thieves, the two of us!
Tonya and I can really talk and laugh up a storm, together. We sure have fun!! Thanks Tonya for the visit!
