“USA 🇺🇸 ~Arizona Grand Canyon Deer Farm”

“Grand Canyon Deer Farm”

We entered the gate and were instantly surrounded by inquisitive deer.

For over 50 years, the Deer Farm has been enjoyed by animal lovers of all ages. Getting “hands on” close to such beautiful creatures is a rare opportunity. Only by raising them from babies allows for such intimate human contact. We work around the clock taking care of the animals, so you can have a memory that will last a lifetime.

Located on a section of old Route 66, the Deer Farm is 10 acres of absolute animal wonderland. Walk a path around our park to view wallabies, llamas, coatimundi, bison, peacocks, and much more. Walk with deer, feed the deer right from your hands. Chat with our silly umbrella cuckatoo, Mozart, pet a goat, kiss a camel. You will have a blast here if you are an animal lover – children and adults alike!

The baby deer stood on the outskirts. With our hands extended, the adult deers lips and tongues lapped at the feed, the babies being pushed away if they even tried to get in on the goodies.

Then, I felt a tugging at my shirt tail. Looking down, a brave baby was telling me to feed her too. A hand full of food extended to the baby, she got her fill, just before teenagers pushed their way into the front.

The deer all look scruffy as spring is here and the cool nights are getting warmer, so their coats are thinning out.

All out of deer food, we walked on, to see a Buffalo cooling down under cover of his pen. One of the ladies working offered to bring the Buffalo closer. I encouraged her, and soon, out popped a handful of Alfalfa. The Buffalo sauntered out for the treat.
With cameras clicking, we started to talk to the keepers. They told us about their reindeer. That was the cue for me, to bring out some traveling stories, from under our hats; starting with the reindeer tribes we stayed with in Mongolia.

We captured their imagination with our many tales of travels; the reindeer encounter being one of our favorite stories, they listened with fascination.
Our stories jumped from Continent to Continent, but before we left our conversation, we shared our travel business cards, then “set our sails” to the next group of animals, until we saw all that was to be seen; which was quite enjoyable.

Bunny loves animals, and so do I, so there was no doubt we would stop at the Deer Farm, only six miles from the Canyon Motel and RV at:
6769 Deer Farm Road Williams, AZ 86046
We recommend the visit!

We go back to the truck and dropped off our cameras and sunglasses with our bags, then returned to the grounds to get some selfies with the deer.
We met another keeper, and having heard from the other gals we visited with already, she too wanted to hear some of our travel stories. So, we filled her ears for a spell.

Soon, we were off to drive the old Route 66 through the old town of Williams. Bunny was busy taking Route 66 pictures, as I drove.

After a stop at the post office we headed back the The Whale.
