“USA 🇺🇸 Alaska ~Valdez More About the KOA Journey Campground“

Valdez is located near the head of a deep fjord in the Prince William Sound of Alaska.
It is surrounded by the Chugach Mountains, which are heavily glaciated.
Valdez is also the northernmost port in North America, that is ice-free, year-round.
Though most well known as the southern terminus for the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline, Valdez is also located on a wedge of flat land on the north shore of Port Valdez; a deep-water fjord, making it a doable 305-mile road trip east of Anchorage and 364-mile drive, south of Fairbanks.

On our second morning, since arriving in Valdez, from the Anchorage-Palmer area, we awoke to the most beautiful day, with sunshine and eventual warm temperatures!
We put the awnings out and turned the A/C on.
Now this feels like summer, and
We enjoyed every single minute of it!

We are here in Valdez to relax, recharge and do the Glacier Boat Tour, which is tomorrow.
The forecast says no rain, so we hope that’s true, and we won’t mind if the sun makes an appearance!

Today, after I got the crockpot going for Navy Bean Soup with Ham,

we needed to get into town to get some grocery shopping and banking done……

……but NOT SO FAST!!!! ⬇️

……..we did not see this coming, since after we arrived here, two days ago, Daryl busted out the compressor and did a tire check on all TEN tires of our RVing outfit and all was well. 😜

Daryl changed the tire, and fortunately we found a repair shop a few miles away, who could help us. While they went to lunch, we ran our errands.
As it would turn out, the stem was bad on the tire, so we got a new one put on it, as well an another professional check on our “spare,” since we were in another shop who does tire work; since our Montana departure check. Everything looked good, there and we got back on the road, $49 later. 🙃

For some reason, this seemed like more of a normal and regular setback…if that makes any sense.

I am reminding myself a lot, lately, we are grateful we have our health. I’m not sure being in continual crisis mode over our transportation issues is very good for our health, so I pray on that, too.

The sunshine is so good for my whole being!

We recommend this KOA. Anytime we can stay in the woods with easy access off a main road, over a glorified parking lot Glamping, we are in! ⬇️  It’s only a few miles to town.

⬆️ Somebody is thinkin about the campfire
