“USA 🇺🇸 ~Louisiana to Mississippi to Alabama to Florida, All in One Day”
Road Trip’n: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida!
What a fabulous day we had. It was the shortest drive day we’ve done in MONTHS, and yet, we drove four states! I guess after driving through Texas, every drive day seems fast, after that 😂
We left New Orleans and continued driving East on I-10, through Louisiana, via over the long bridge crossing of Lake Pontchartrain, and then beyond.
⬆️ Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is almost 24 miles long and the first time I drove over it, it held the Guinness Book of World Record, for the “longest; continuous bridge over water.”China built one, since that time, and it is 1/4 mile longer; “Longest bridge over water (aggregate)” is now in Jiaozhou; Bay Bridge.
Next, we drove into Mississippi, near Biloxi, and right on to Alabama; driving thru Mobile and then to Lilian.
We reached the awesome Gulf Shores/Pensacola West KOA Holiday Campground in Lilian, loaded with Southern charm. We have a beautiful roomy spot, with a view of Perdido Bay, and the bridge that crosses into Florida.
We set-up camp, unhooked Jonah, put her top down and off we went, to take a drive into Pensacola Florida, for a bite to eat, within 15 minutes time. We can set-up and break-down camp, practically with our eyes closed, by this point.
We drove for at least 40 minutes, (yes, I drive slow) but we wanted to visit Floridas Perdido Keys and go to the beach!
⬆️ ⬇️Predido Keys State Park
Perdido Key State Park is a 247-acre Florida State Park located on a barrier island fifteen miles southwest of PensacolaAnd The park’s undisturbed dunes and marshes provide essential habitat for nesting shorebirds and sea turtles, making it a vital conservation area along the Gulf of Mexico. At Perdido Key State Park, you can explore diverse ecosystems like dunes, marshes, and coastal forests, providing ample opportunities for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. Mostly it’s a popular beach for sun bathers.

Dinner Time ⬇️
Dinner was beyond delicious! Crab Trap has a private beach access, so we headed there, to walk our meal off a bit. What a beautiful area these Florida Keys are! It got me real excited about our stop at the more well-know, South Florida Keys, later this month!
We made our drive back to The Whale, and with just enough daylight, we wandered the campground. What a hidden gem this place is. It has a private beach and marina. I would love to get our family down here for a stay, sometime in the summer. The grand kiddos would have a ball, especially if we rented a boat. I would love to teach the kiddos to water ski, and put in crab pots. Oh, and to fish here, since it’s privately owned, no fishing licenses are required.
I did the math, and their home is “only” 800 miles away, and a 13-hour drive. You know what is super awesome about my daughter Chelsie? She wouldn’t hesitate for a moment, and would pack up the kids and drive on down. I don’t know WHERE she would get the motivation… *sarcasm here.*

⬆️ Sunset from The Whale
Unfortunately, our arrival day is the only day we are suppose to have sunshine, for our entire stay at this KOA. So, we made the best of our daylight hours, while we had the sun!
Today, we are hunkered down doing some home cooking, reading a good book, blogging and doing laundry, as today is cloudy and gearing up to rain. Oh well, we do get three weeks in Florida, with our next few stays, so I’m sure the sun will find us again in that time frame. Once we leave Florida, heading North, we are preparing our brains for winter weather on the East Coast. We have no dilutions about that. The trade off is being with our grandchildren! Everyday with them will feel sunny!😎

Our drive day from New Orleans to Alabama was about four hours. Good roads, east on Interstate 10. If you RV this way. Watch that google map. It had us leave the interstate, prematurely and wound us around county roads for about 40 minutes, when a later exit from I-10 would have been only a 10-15 minute drive to the campground.
