“Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 ~Yala National Park Safari Continues”
We have had great success on Safari! In total, we enjoyed a full day and to other half day Safari game runs. We saw two leopards, so our hopes of seeing at least one, was realized! Aside from the Leopard 🐆, we saw many other wild animal sightings. Even lunch time was exciting on our first day, which was a full-day Safari. We had two lunch spots to choose from, where guests are allowed to get out of the Jeep. We had been to the beach, already and it was very hot there, so we chose the other site, which was near a river with lots of shade. It was here, we would deal with a large marauding Macaque Monkey troop, who felt it was their right to help us eat our lunch! They we all over; jumping in the truck, on the roof, and on my lap! Incidentally, out of all the guests in the park, we were the ONLY Jeep who chose not to go to the beach for the mandatory (too long) 2-hour lunch break, when the park is closed.. At one point, the guide rushed Chelsie back to the Jeep, when a Water Buffalo entered our picnic scene. They have been known to charge at guests! St one point, the driver was sitting in the Jeep eating his lunch, but when he opened his door, a waiting Monkey, hiding under the truck, jumped up and stole his chicken! The guide gave his lunch to the driver, since the guide was on Monkey duty with a big stick, yet failed at that moment to protect the food😂
Anyway, at 4AM, the weather did get better, so we ventured out for our last run on this beautiful early morning. So glad we did!

This was my tenth Safari, Daryl’s ninth, and my daughters’ first. I enjoyed watching her reaction to seeing the beautiful wildlife and scenery so much! Last night, after we left the gates of the reserve, a wild bull Elephant came out of the bush, next to road, and we stopped. He came to within a foot of my daughter, while she was sitting in the Jeep. Her heart was racing, she said.
We enjoyed the same driver and guide for three game runs, and now, this morning, we will have a new driver and guide, for our last game run…Around 1PM, we will leave the Safari camp, and get a ride to our next location of Mirissa, to enjoy some beach time and wrap up our lovely time in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
