“Borneo, Malaysia 🇲🇾 ~Lahad Datu “The Bike and Tour B&B”
Lahad Datu Borneo, Malaysia 🇲🇾
When I booked us into the Bike and Tour-B&B for our before and after; “leaping off point,” to be on our much anticipated trip in the Borneo rainforest adventures, I had no idea what a treat this place would be! It has been so much more than a “stop-off” place for us. We felt so comfortable, and it was very homey and professional stay.
BRAVO!
We spent three nights in total; one quick stay overnight, after our long drive from Sandakan, then upon our return from the Rainforest, we got to totally relax and rest for two nights. The hosts; Simons and Trisha, along with their wonderful staff made our stay, quite memorable.
Note: Trisha, the host, is the one who introduced me to the magic of Butterfly 🦋 Blue Pea Tea. so she is practically a superhero to me! 🙏😌
We enjoyed this genuine homestay, on a property of flowers, birds and butterflies. The pool was comfortable, and we were always served cold ice water with lime, which is what we prefer.
Each meal of breakfast and dinner were prepared with much attention, care and love. By far, the best food we ate in Borneo!
Trisha went above and beyond, upon our return from the Rainforest to serve us a specially prepared meal that is traditionally served at Malaysia weddings. We had our place setting, out by the pool, with candlelight, under the material of a billowy gazebo. It was very romantic! On this first night back, we were the only guests, so we had the place to ourselves.
By our second night, it was a full-house, and we dined with seven other travelers; specifically, a couple from London who we really enjoyed getting to know. The evening meal, again, was very specifically prepared. It’s an event, really, to eat such a meal! We enjoyed another delicious meal of Malaysian tradition; served on banana leaves in place of plates. Utensils were optional. (we used them).
It’s a small property with five guest rooms and one shared bathroom. There is A/C in each room, and WiFi available in the common area. The whole place is neat and tidy, and clean as a whistle, too. It’s the only way we are able to share a bathroom (which we do very seldom, but traveling full-time, some locations we go to are more remote than others, so this is necessary at times).
If we ever come back to Borneo, to try and see Pygmy Elephants again, we will return here to this wonderful B&B, too!
Thank you Trisha and Simon. Well done!
About Butterfly 🦋 Pea Flower Tea:
Like green tea, Butterfly 🦋 Pea Flower tea is full of potent antioxidants, and has even been studied for its ability to help protect the skin against premature aging (it fights against glycation, which is protein damage caused by an influx of sugar molecules). There have been additional studies showing the tea’s ability to help fight against internal inflammation. Traditionally, the Butterfly 🦋 Pea plant and tea made from it have been used to treat general pain, reduce inflammation, help with common eye issues like conjunctivitis, fight against certain types of cancers, induce brain health, and “increase vitality.”
The Butterfly 🦋 Blue Pea Flower tea has been used for centuries in Southeast Asia as a caffeine-free herbal beverage, (as well as a plant-based food and clothing dye).
History of Butterfly Pea Flower Tea:
Native to Southeast Asia, this dried tea is as common in these countries, as chamomile tea is in America, and is often used in the same way; as an after-dinner drink. The tea is served hot or cold, and is usually mixed with honey, ginger, mint or passion fruit.
Dried Butterfly 🦋 Pea Flower tea, as well as the petals of the Butterfly 🦋 Pea plant, have been used for centuries in countries like Thailand 🇹🇭 and Vietnam 🇻🇳, and many more. In addition to plain tea drinks, the dried leaves are often used in cocktails to create the same whimsical, and entertaining effect.
