“India 🇮🇳 ~North and South Goa by the Arabian Sea”
On our second visit to India, we began our adventures in the Central province.
We had begun this second visit to India by flying into Mumbai (Old Bombay). We immediately landed, and within a few days we were back in the air, making the long day journey (north) to get to Bandhavgar National Forest, where we were to enjoy our much anticipated Tiger Safari. (It was incredible).
After we were done with our Tiger Safari, we returned to Mumbai, then we made our way south from there, by vehicle.
I had heard about Goa being a getaway location for the locals as well as neighboring countries. We had never been to North or South Goa, and since I didn’t want to choose, we visited both. What we did not know was how pretty getting to Goa would be, through the Mahadei Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a thick jungle with a road cut through it. We saw many monkeys, but other wildlife; big and small, call this range their home. It is in fact one of the best places try and spot Tigers in the State.
History
This sanctuary was formed recently. Its official declaration as a wildlife preserve came in 1999. The formation of this sanctuary has made Goa the only state in all of India that has completely protected the Western Ghats that are located within its boundaries. Tigers have been spotted wandering the thick vegetation.
We enjoyed the South a little more, but in the North, we did stay for a couple nights and liked Calangute Beach. (for some reason my photos for the north ended up being super small). Here is a collage of sorts.
Goa is a state in western India with coastlines stretching along the Arabian Sea. Its long history as a Portuguese colony prior to 1961 is evident in its preserved 17th-century churches and the area’s tropical spice plantations. Goa is also known for its beaches, ranging from popular stretches at Baga and Palolem, to those in laid-back fishing villages such as Agonda. We found a villa to rent, in Cavolidum Beach, where we could hang out and relax for awhile. This little community had regulars who have been coming for 20 or more years, every year!
The weather happened to be quite bad after our arrival day, and we experienced a Cyclone. Our Villa stayed dry on the inside, but the downed palm tree debris, and more, wreaked havoc with the power and internet. It would be a few days before we could venture out to the beach, due to flooding.
Goa would be the stop, where I made up my mind, to take on getting our own Travel Blog Website online; something I had no idea what I was taking on! It’s been a lot of starts and stops, with two different web guys, but I have come a long ways and learned a lot too!
