“Uganda 🇺🇬 ~Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park”
This oldest park in Uganda hosts 619 bird species, the second highest in numbers of any park in Africa; and the sixth highest of any Park; world-wide. These remarkable numbers are made possible by the park’s diverse habitats.
Crocodiles have only recently been seen in the Kazinga Channel. They disappeared for 8,000 years, after they were eliminated from Lake Edward by toxic ash from local volcanoes.
This Park also contains 95 species of mammal; more than any other park in Uganda. Hippos prefer to graze on short grass, and each animal eating about 88 pounds each night.
The landscape in this section of the magnificent park is considerably different from that found in other parts of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Ishasha Sector within QENP is habitat to the internationally renowned tree-climbing lions which are actually unique to this very place. The males of these exceptional lions have black manes….. we did not see the Lions in this Park, but we would see them later
